Challenge
My client, the Head of Consulting at a multinational conglomerate, sought my assistance in an initiative focused on both pursuing growth opportunities and implementing cost reduction strategies within the e-commerce sector. Additionally, I was asked as a subject matter expert, offering insights on emerging trends and the influence of social commerce on the client's diverse portfolio of businesses.
Approach
I conducted meticulous market research and in-depth analysis of future trends and prepared and co-led workshops with category leads. These workshops employing methodologies like customer journey mapping, design thinking and growth and cost estimation, covered topics including customer experience, e-commerce strategies, emerging trends, and potential growth prospects. I delved further into future trends analysis, encompassing pivotal subjects such as social commerce, automation, and concepts like ghost kitchens and grocery delivery. I systematically curated a list of potential initiatives to foster growth and realize cost efficiencies. Through additional workshops with top-level management, we rigorously assessed the feasibility and profitability of each initiative, ultimately culminating in a comprehensive estimation process for the final board presentation.
Results
The board was equipped with actionable insights to make informed decisions that directly impacted the organization's profitability. This project served as a starting point in growing e-commerce initiatives across the group. As a testament to the project's success and the value delivered, the client has graciously agreed to serve as a reference, recognizing the significant impact and contributions to their e-commerce initiatives and overall profitability.
